Located within a dense residential precinct in Daxing, China, Xin Chen Place represents the comprehensive architectural reimagining of an aging commercial structure. Conceived to breathe new life into a neglected urban block, the centerpiece of the refurbishment is a highly dynamic, kinetic facade. Articulated through a rigorous system of twisting steel cords, the building’s exterior generates a striking optical illusion of movement, shifting depending on the pedestrian's vantage point to actively engage the surrounding streetscape.

The interior intervention focuses on a radical surgical alteration of the existing atrium voids. By redefining the architectural boundaries of the balconies and introducing a cascading sequence of escalators, the design cultivates deep visual connectivity and cross-pollination across multiple retail levels. These sweeping structural changes transition the mall from a static commercial box into an open, highly fluid spatial experience.

Deliberately designed as a calm and tactile refuge from the urban density, the interior atmosphere is defined by soft, draping ceiling finishes and an integrated basement garden that anchors the public amenities. To ensure a cohesive architectural narrative, the language of the exterior wire-work is drawn directly into the core; the atrium edges are defined by a delicate cable pattern, establishing a continuous, softening visual rhythm throughout the entire building.
